I don’t write music reviews. I write totally subjective and selfish accounts of how music inspires me. As music is the most inspiring thing on the planet,why endeavour to write product reviews about it ? It would be totally missing the point.

White Denim and the Hype

If you regularly trawl through the blogosphere’s columns, you are bound to have heard of White Denim. Whether you actually took pains to read the entries filled with superlatives and ridiculous mind associations is another matter. Following their performance at this year’s SXSW, this Austin band’s fame has spilled over to the mainstream, reaching the ears of Rolling Stone, the NME, and the average Tube commuter on their journey to work. It was there that I finally gave in and surrendered to the urge of checking out for myself what the hype was about. White Denim happened to be playing the following night in an unusual London venue, the Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes, making the offer of a musical night out all the more irresistible. Si vous écumez régulièrement la blogosphère, vous avez certainement entendu parler de White Denim. Que vous ayiez ou non pris la peine de lire les billets remplis de superlatifs et autres ridicules associations d’idées est une autre histoire. The first time I went to Paris was shortly after John Lennon was 21. He was given what we thought was a huge sum of money, £100, by an aunt in Scotland. We decided to use the money to go on holiday and hitch-hike. We were supposed to only spend the night in Paris and carry on to Spain, but we liked it too much and stayed there for the week. We were just two little guys, unknown, wandering round Montmartre, asking the prostitutes if they knew how we could get a hotel, “avez-vous une hotel pour la nuit ?”, unfortunately they didn’t.
